Since its founding in 2019, HITOHATA has been a digital creative company delivering digital content that fuses art and technology. From our bases in Nagoya, Tokyo, Osaka and Milan, we have produced and directed more than 80 events and projects in Japan and overseas, including projection mapping and immersive art museums.
From Japan's foremost projection mapping and immersive art museums — such as the National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Keep Projection Mapping, the Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition and the Macao Science Center Projection Mapping — to immersive shows that fuse holographic screens and projected imagery with traditional performing arts such as Noh, Kabuki and Japanese dance; digital installations and immersive dinners that combine ikebana and Japanese cuisine with interactive experiences in traditional architecture such as old houses and ryotei; 3DCG animation in which folding-screen and nishiki-e paintings come dynamically to life; and VR/AR/metaverse recreations of cultural properties in virtual space — we continue to take on the digital transformation of cultural tourism, drawing on state-of-the-art digital technology, regional cultural and tourism resources, and Japan's traditional culture.
At the same time, by harnessing advanced imaging technologies such as 3DCG and VFX together with cutting-edge technologies including AI, we elevate Japan's distinctive history and art into innovative art of light through contemporary technology — contributing to regional revitalisation while opening up new possibilities for arts and culture.
This work has been highly regarded, and our field has expanded from Japan to the world: an immersive show at a Japanese-government-hosted side event of the UN General Assembly in New York, projection mapping at a World Heritage site in the Republic of San Marino, and more.
In an age of widening divisions and conflict between values and within society, we will continue to create events and projects that use the power of creativity to generate experiences of shared emotion and excitement — nurturing dreams and hope, renewing society and rebuilding the connections between people.
Toward the creation of a future beyond imagination that enriches the heart.

Services & Solutions
Through the fusion of art and technology, HITOHATA creates new digital experiences that cut across culture, art, tourism and the city.
From projection mapping, immersive museums, immersive shows and digital art installations to visual content and technology solutions, we handle the entire process — planning, direction, production, installation, PR and operation — elevating any space into a stage for experience.
Grand shows of light on historic architecture and cultural properties, touring immersive art exhibitions, long-run shows on ships and in theatres, spectacular imagery that colours the urban landscape: working with a wide range of professionals, we deliver projects and events in Japan and around the world.
A night when history is enveloped in light, and its story travels beyond time. Historic architecture weaves a new narrative together with the art of light and becomes a symbol of its region. HITOHATA's projection mapping begins with the history and culture of each place, and comprehensively designs the visuals, music and lighting as well as the visitor flow, PR, operation and security. By activating cultural properties at night, it drives visitor numbers, publicity and civic pride while contributing to the night-time economy. It has been highly acclaimed in Japan and overseas as a cultural tourism experience that shares emotion across generations and nationalities.
A travelling immersive art museum. Japanese art and culture, set in motion as experience.
Ukiyo-e and yokai paintings are reconstructed digitally to create a new experience felt with all five senses.
"Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition" and "Yokai Immersive Art Exhibition" deliver wonder and discovery beyond language, and continue to expand around the world.
From touring exhibitions to permanent venues, we optimise an original narrative for each site, contributing to the preservation of culture, the global reach of Japanese culture and the creation of something new.
A story woven by the entire space. Immersive stage art that envelops the audience.
Light, sound and performance become one, crossing the boundary between stage and audience.
From a long-run production aboard the cruise ship Asuka III to the fusion of Noh and Japanese dance with holographic screen imagery, we handle everything from planning and direction to choreography, costume, casting and operation.
Using state-of-the-art technology to integrate performing arts, imagery, music and lighting, we create new immersive experiences that are recognised internationally.
The cityscape becomes a stage that shines with the art of light. Large-scale projection mapping on arenas, public facilities and landmark architecture transforms the urban landscape and creates new value for cultural tourism. We build 3D models from architectural drawings and combine high-definition projection with moving lights and lasers for a dynamic production. It contributes to city branding, tourism promotion and international outreach, creating experiences in which light is engraved as a memory of the city.
The art of light, in harmony with spaces that hold history and culture.
We treat unique venues — traditional houses, ryotei restaurants, hotels — as part of the work itself, staging each piece to draw out the character of the place.
A digital art exhibition merging ikebana with projection, an immersive dinner where narrative and kaiseki cuisine overlap, seasonal Christmas installations: we handle everything from planning through installation and operation.
By colouring atmospheric spaces with the art of light and weaving new cultural stories, we achieve both artistic quality and economic value.
Reconstructing regional history, culture and brand value through innovative visual expression. We weave stories on screen using 3DCG, ultra-high-definition cinematography, micro drones, motion graphics, VR/AR and projection mapping. From 3DCG animation in which warlords depicted on folding screens and nishiki-e come to life, to aerial footage of cities, we produce visuals in which sight itself becomes the story. They serve promotional and branding goals while communicating essential value and generating lasting empathy.
Reliable technology that supports the front line of creation. We combine more than 50 high-brightness projectors, lenses, media players and audio equipment to build the optimal system for each venue, creative intent and operational requirement. Beyond our own content, we have proven our reliability through technical cooperation and equipment supply for overseas immersive exhibitions held in Japan. We also accept equipment-only requests, and this philosophy of mobilizing every technology in the service of creation underpins the experiential value of all our work.
