KUNIYOSHI IMMERSIVE ART in Utagawa Kuniyoshi Exhibition, produced by HITOHATA,INC., was held at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art (Sapporo City, Hokkaido) from Fri, Apr, 25 - Sun, Jun, 15 2025.
This project is part of the exhibition ‘Ukiyo-e Super Creator Kuniyoshi Utagawa’ organised by the Hokkaido Shimbun Press. and NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Station, and is based on more than 50 Ukiyo-e works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, including ‘Miyamoto Musashi Kill an Enormous Whale’ and ‘The Ruined Palace at Soma’, which are shown in 3DCG animation and The museum is a digital art museum where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of Ukiyo-e through a three-dimensional visual space using 3DCG animation and projection mapping.
The exhibition ‘Ukiyo-e Super Creator Utagawa Kuniyoshi’ features approximately 200 works from a wide range of genres, including his speciality of samurai paintings, caricatures and paintings of beautiful women, and introduces the fascinating world of Kuniyoshi.
In conjunction with the ‘KUNIYOSHI IMMERSIVE ART in Ukiyo-e’ exhibition, a special lecture entitled ‘The Making of Kuniyoshi Immersive Art’ was held on Fri, Apr, 25 2025 in the auditorium of the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art (Lecturer: HIGASHIYAMA Takeaki, President of HITOHATA,INC.)
