GIFU LIGHT STORY 2027

HITOHATA, INC. will produce “GIFU LIGHT STORY 2027,” which will be held Sat, Jan 30 - Sun, Feb 28, 2027, at Gifu Park and Shoho-ji Temple (Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture).

This event will take place at Gifu Park, located at the foot of Mount Kinka, where Gifu Castle stands, and Shoho-ji Temple, which houses the Gifu Great Buddha, one of Japan’s Three Great Buddhas.

The event will feature light-up displays using Gifu Wagasa umbrellas and Gifu lanterns, both designated as traditional crafts of Japan. In addition, projection mapping visuals inspired by Gifu City’s unique traditional culture, including cormorant fishing on the Nagara River, pristine streams, and folding-screen paintings, will be projected onto the rock walls of the garden at the historic site of Lord Oda Nobunaga’s residence, creating a fantastical world of light.

For the first time in the history of “GIFU LIGHT STORY,” a sea of clouds installation will also be presented.

“GIFU LIGHT STORY” will be held for the seventh time since its launch in 2020, and this will be the first time that HITOHATA, INC. produces the event. Under the theme “A Thousand Years of Light, Unveiled at Night,” HITOHATA will present a new and immersive experience.

Enjoy a fantastical night woven together by Gifu City’s traditional crafts and light, projection mapping, and a sea of clouds.

[Access]

Public Transportation: From JR Gifu Station or Meitetsu Gifu Station, take a Gifu Bus bound for the Nagara Bridge area or the City Loop Line (counterclockwise), and get off at the Gifu Park / Gifu Castle bus stop. The venues are immediately accessible from the bus stop. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes.

Car: Approximately 20 minutes from the Gifu-Kagamigahara IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway.

Alternatively, approximately 15 minutes from the Gifu IC on the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway.

*Elementary school students and younger, visitors with disabilities, and one accompanying caregiver per visitor with a disability are admitted free of charge.

*Visitors may be asked to present a student ID, documentation confirming their age, or a Physical Disability Certificate, Love Notebook, Rehabilitation Certificate, Mental Disability Certificate, Atomic Bomb Survivor’s Health Handbook, or other applicable documentation at the venue on the day of the event. The “Mirairo ID” app is also accepted.
