


National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping 2025-2026, jointly produced by EPSON SALES JAPAN CORPORATION., HITOHATA, INC., and Seiko Epson Corporation, was held at Matsumoto Castle Park (Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture) from Sat, Dec 13, 2025 to Sun, Feb 15, 2026.

Spectacular and immersive projection mapping was presented on the keep and stone walls of Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan’s five remaining National Treasure castle keeps and the oldest surviving example among five-story, six-floor tenshu. The visuals featured dynamic and fantastical imagery inspired by local heritage, including nishiki-e prints depicting the historic merchant city of Matsumoto from the Matsumoto City Museum collection, opulent folding-screen paintings, traditional crafts unique to the region such as Matsumoto temari balls and lanterns, as well as cherry blossoms in full bloom and alpine flowers of the Northern Alps.
In addition, visitors could experience a variety of light-based artworks throughout the park, including interactive installations along the garden paths, projection mapping on the castle gates, and illumination across Matsumoto Castle Park.
Admission was free, and no advance reservation was required.

ASAKUSA CULTURE & LIGHTS 2025
The first ever grand projection mapping event at Sensoji Temple was held, along with special daytime and nighttime viewings of the scenic Denpoin Garden and Emadou Hall, which are normally closed to the public, for the first time in seven years. Over 150,000 people visited the projection mapping over the five days.

Tsuruga Castle Projection Mapping 2025 celebrated the 60th anniversary of the castle keep’s reconstruction. Over three nights in Aizuwakamatsu, dazzling Aizu-inspired digital imagery illuminated the keep and stone walls, offering visitors a spectacular night with projection mapping, cultural art, and park illumination.

A dynamic and fantastical projection mapping transforms the keep and stone walls of Matsumoto Castle, a National Treasure, featuring ukiyo-e prints depicting the merchant city of Matsumoto, ornate folding screens, traditional local crafts, and vibrant cherry blossoms and alpine flowers of the Northern Alps.

National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping 2024-2025
Projection mapping images of ukiyo-e, traditional crafts, flowers, etc. will be projected onto Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure representing Japan. A light art production including a fusion of projection mapping and laser mapping and interactive content was performed.

Projection mapping with a motif of cultural heritage is projected onto the huge wooden National Treasure Mikado and the magnificent wooden National Treasure Nyorai-do. The National Treasure Mikado also combines projection mapping and laser mapping.

Ethics Lights 2025: Toyama Castle Projection Mapping
Projection mapping using digital art inspired by motifs such as phoenixes, Toyama’s traditional crafts, and tulips—the prefectural flower of Toyama—is projected onto Toyama Castle, a symbol of Toyama City and a nationally registered tangible cultural property.

National Historic Site Saiku Heian Emaki Projection Mapping 2024
Projection mapping images featuring cultural and artistic motifs associated with Saiku, such as the Tale of Genji picture scroll, Tale of Genji shikishi pasting folding screen and Juni-hitoe, are projected in the Shoden, East Side Hall and West Side Hall of the Saiku Heian no Mori at the Saiku National Historical Site, the main programme of the Re-Ku Bunka Art Festival to be held in early 2024.
