“National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping 2025-2026” produced by HITOHATA,INC. in collaboration with EPSON SALES JAPAN CORPORATION. and Seiko Epson Corporation will be held from Sat, Dec, 13 2025 to Sun, Feb, 15 2026 at Matsumoto Castle Park (Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture).

This event will feature a dynamic and dreamlike projection mapping display on the National Treasure Matsumoto Castle—one of Japan’s five existing castles designated as National Treasures and the oldest among the five-tier, six-story castles—as well as on its stone walls.
The visuals will incorporate motifs unique to Matsumoto City, including ukiyo-e prints depicting the historic merchant town, splendid folding screen paintings, traditional crafts such as Matsumoto temari (handcrafted decorative balls) and lanterns, and the springtime cherry blossoms and alpine flowers of the Northern Japan Alps.

In addition, visitors can enjoy a variety of light art experiences, including interactive content along the garden paths, projection mapping on the castle gates, and an illuminated Matsumoto Castle Park.
Admission is free, and no advance reservations are required.

*Continuous projection of approximately 9 minutes of content interspersed with approximately 3 minutes of intermission.
*Projections will be held even in the event of rain, but may be temporarily suspended or cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
*Sunset times are later towards the end of the exhibition period, so it may be difficult to see the images immediately after the start of the exhibition.

[Venue] Matsumoto Castle Park (4-1 Marunouchi, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture)


Train: 20 min. walk from JR Matsumoto Sta.

Bus: Take Utsukushi-ga-hara Onsen Line, Asama Line, Okada Line, or Alps Park Line from JR Matsumoto Sta, and get off at Matsumoto Castle-City Hall Sta.

Car: Approx. 20 minutes by car from the Matsumoto IC of the Nagano Expressway
*Please use the Matsumoto Municipal Matsumoto Castle Otemon Parking Lot (multi-story) (7:30am-10:30pm, 150 yen/30 min. for regular cars, approx. 8 min. walk to Matsumoto Castle).

[Contents] Projection mapping featuring dynamic and dreamlike imagery will be projected onto the National Treasure Matsumoto Castle—one of Japan’s five remaining castles designated as National Treasures and the oldest among the five-tier, six-story castles—and its stone walls.

In addition, visitors can enjoy a variety of light art experiences, including interactive content along the garden paths, projection mapping on the castle gates, and an illuminated Matsumoto Castle Park.

[Admission] Free of charge, no advance application required.

[Requests to visitors]
- Please take care when passing through as it is night time.
- Please refrain from taking photos or videos with flash, drones, or using a tripod for long periods of time in the front rows during busy times. Also, please refrain from taking continuous shots or use the silent shooting function during crowded times, as the shutter sound of continuous shots may disturb people around you. We recommend that you use a smartphone to take video because of the fast-moving nature of the images.
- When using a tripod, the camera position is limited to the height of the photographer's head regardless of the viewing location (except for filming by official recording staff). Please refrain from using a stepladder or any other object that does not allow the photographer's feet to touch the ground.
- Please be considerate of others in the area.
- Please be aware that you may be photographed or edited by staff members, and that you may be filmed for media coverage. Please understand this in advance.
