


"Saiku Takigi Noh Theater Performance" produced by HITOHATA,INC. was held at Saiku Heian no Mori (Meiwa-cho, Taki County, Mie Prefecture), where a performance was presented in collaboration with digital art on 4 November 2024. (Monday, national holiday)
The event was part of the Saiku Culture and Arts Festival held for the first time in 2024, and was staged at the ruins of the Saiku Palace, where the Saio had once purified himself, in the Saiku Heian no Mori, a full-scale restored Heian-period building, where the Noh play ‘Nomiya’ was performed.
The Kyogen play Boshibari was also performed at the same time.
Projection mapping images, including digital artwork, were projected onto the Shoden, creating a new cultural and artistic experience that transcended language barriers and could be visually and intuitively understood by non-Japanese visitors through the fusion of traditional performing arts and state-of-the-art visual technology.

The Noh play ‘Nomiya’ was performed in the Saiku Heian no Mori, a full-scale restored Heian-period building, as part of the Saiku Culture and Arts Festival held for the first time in 2024, set in the ruins of the Nomiya Palace where the Saio had purified himself in the past.
The Kyogen play Boshibari was also performed at the same time.
The projection mapping images of digital art inspired by the autumn scenery in the ‘Nomiya’ were projected onto the main hall, creating a new cultural and artistic experience that transcended language barriers and could be visually and intuitively understood by foreigners through the fusion of traditional performing arts and state-of-the-art visual technology.

The Saiku Cultural Art Festival is an international art festival that showcases local culture and art in the nationally designated historic site of Saiku, a historical and cultural heritage site in the town of Meiwa, Mie Prefecture.
Against the backdrop of the rich history and climate of the ancient Saigu, a diverse programme of contemporary art, traditional performing arts and music will be presented. The festival also showcases local traditional culture, crafts and creative activities by artists, providing a unique experience that blends the history of Saigu with contemporary art.
Visitors can enjoy the ‘Art Programme’ for a visual experience of art art, the ‘Cultural Experience Programme’ for learning through the experience of wearing the juni-hitoe kimono and creating artworks, and the ‘Food Programme’ for a culinary experience inspired by the Heian Period, when the Saiku were at their most prosperous.
