"DISCOVER Japan's NEW TREASURES," a United Nations General Assembly side event and tourism to Japan reception hosted by the Japan Tourism Agency and co-hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, was held on September 20 (Wednesday) (September 21 (Thursday) Japan time),2023, with an opening show (3D projection show) produced by HITOHATA,INC..

This event was hosted by the Japan Tourism Agency and co-hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to further promote tourism and consumption from the U.S. to Japan and to expand two-way tourism exchange in New York, where the United Nations is being held and the world's attention is focused. The opening show, themed "DISCOVER Japan's NEW TREASURES," featured a three-part live performance of ninja action dance, Japanese dance, and contemporary dance, along with a performance of beautiful Japanese scenery and traditional Japanese cultural motifs projected on a hologram screen. A 3D projection show was presented by fusing beautiful Japanese landscapes, traditional cultural motifs and digital art contents projected on a hologram screen.

Following the opening show, Mr. Tetsuo Saito, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, gave a speech and announced that the year 2024 would be designated as the "Japan-U.S. Year of Tourism Exchange. About 200 people from the tourism industry, media, and political and business circles attended the event.
