"DIGITAL ART FOREST Insect Paradise Fabre Insects Exhibition NAGOYA" produced by HITOHATA,INC. was held from July 9 (Sat.) to August 28 (Sun.), 2022, at the Kanayama Minami Building Museum Building (former Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Nagoya).

This project was one of the exhibits of the "~Fabre 200th Anniversary~Fabre Insects Exhibition NAGOYA" an insect exhibition event held by the Fabre Insects Exhibition Executive Committee (TV Aichi, Dream Studio, and JIJI PRESS, LTD.), and was themed on a fantastic insect paradise. The projection mapping production created a digital art space in which insects glowing like jewels were flying around in the forest.

About "Fabre Insects Exhibition"

At the Fabre Insects Exhibition, visitors will be able to experience the amazing characteristics of the insects introduced in Fabre's Chronicle of Insects through hands-on exhibits, as well as through exhibits of insect specimens related to Fabre's book, his favorite items and research tools that can only be seen here. In addition, various living insects, including the Hercules beetle, will be on display, and visitors will be able to experience the ecology of insects through various contents such as projection mapping to experience the beauty of insects, the "Giant Insect Forest" where a giant insect robot will appear, and the "Insect Touch Forest" where visitors can touch a live beetle. Insects are the most important insects in the world.

It’s an honor to have the opportunity to produce an "DIGITAL ART FOREST Insect Paradise Fabre Insects Exhibition NAGOYA" as one of the exhibits of "~Fabre 200th Anniversary~Fabre Insects Exhibition NAGOYA ".

Founded in 2019, HITOHATA,INC. is a Nagoya-based creative company creates works such as projection mapping and installation arts by using local tourist attractions, culture and art.

This project was a projection mapping spatial presentation for a large-scale exhibition. We aimed to create active experience values appropriate for the "Insects to Experience" exhibition by mixing the visual space of the butterflies on the wall, floor, gauze membrane, and three-dimensional form using ten projectors, and the element of play on the floor using an interactive system that changes images according to human movement.

Under the concept of "Insect Paradise," soft neon-colored graphics, computer graphics, and motion graphics were used to depict scenes of insects glowing like jewels as they fly through the forest as it changes from night to day. The projection mapping of the butterflies, the projection of images on the gauze membrane using stage design techniques, and a state-of-the-art interactive system were all utilized to create a highly immersive visual space.
