"IWASAKI Castle Projection Mapping" produced by HITOHATA,INC. will be held at Iwasaki Castle (Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture) from November 18 (Fri) to November 20 (Sun), 2022. (Organizer: Nisshin City Tourism Association, Co-sponsor: Nisshin City, Nisshin City Board of Education, Nisshin City Chamber of Commerce and Industry)

This event will be held at Iwasaki Castle, the symbol of Nisshin City and the site of the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute in the Warring States Period, and will include a digital animation of a folding screen depicting the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, the "Sekigahara Battle Screen" from the Tokugawa Art Museum depicting Kansuke Niwa, the lord of Iwasaki Castle, and "Yonogi no Omatou Festival", the pride of Nisshin City, etc. The dynamic digital art content projection mapping images sublimated from the historical and cultural motifs of Nisshin City will be projected on the castle.

Admission is free and no advance registration is required.

This is the first-ever projection mapping of the magnificent exterior of Iwasaki Castle. We hope you will enjoy this collaboration of digital technology and historical heritage that conveys the atmosphere of the Warring States period.

In addition, "Iwasaki Castle Digital Light-up" will be held from November 1 (Tuesday) to December 25 (Sunday), 2022.

(From Nagoya City) From Nagoya Expressway "Takabari IC", take Route 302 north for about 5 minutes, turn right at "Takabari-bashi Higashi" intersection, take Prefectural Road 217 east for about 15 minutes, turn left at "Iwasaki" intersection, and turn right at "Iwasaki Johoku" intersection.

(From Owari/Gifu area) From Nagoya Interchange on Tomei Expressway or Hongo Interchange on Higashi-Meihan Expressway, take Prefectural Road No. 57 south for about 10 minutes and turn right at the "Iwasaki Jouhoku" intersection.

(From Mikawa/Toyoda area) From Nagoya Seto Road "Nagakute IC", take Prefectural Road 233, go south for about 10 minutes, turn right at "Iwafuji" intersection, turn right at "Iwasaki" intersection, and turn right at "Iwasaki Johoku" intersection immediately.

About Iwasaki Castle

Iwasaki Castle was a flat mountain castle built by Nobuhide Oda, father of Nobunaga, in the early Sengoku period (1528-1531). The castle was occupied by four generations of the Niwa clan for about 60 years until 1600, when it was transferred to Mikawa Ibo (Homi-machi, Toyota City) as a 10,000-koku daimyo (feudal lord).

In 1584, during the Battle of Komaki-Nagakute, the Niwa clan stopped Ikeda Tsuneoki's troops from the Toyotomi side who were trying to disrupt the rear of the Oda-Tokugawa allied forces, and it is said that over 300 people including Niwa Ujishige, the castle's representative, died in battle, leading the Oda and Tokugawa forces to victory.

The castle tower was rebuilt as an observation tower in 1987, and the magnificent five-story tower with beautiful white walls offers a panoramic view of the Nisshin cityscape. Next to the tower is the Historical Memorial Hall, which exhibits materials on Iwasaki Castle and the history and culture of Nisshin City, and hosts a variety of events.
