What are "Saio" and "Saiku"?

Saiku, which is related to Ise Jingu in Mie Prefecture, is the capital of the unmarried princess "Saio" who served Amaterasu Omikami of Ise Jingu on behalf of the emperor for more than 660 years from the Asuka period to the end of the Kamakura period.

The only place in Japan where Saiku existed is the site of the Abstinent Palace in Meiwa Town, Mie Prefecture, which has been protected by the locals as a sacred land. The Agency "has been restored.

Saio, who is said to have had more than 60 people, left her family until the emperor replaced him, said goodbye to life in the city, and spent his days praying at Saio. Some of them were forbidden to have a romance and tore up their relationship with her lover because they served God.

Danmitsu is appointed to play the role of "Saio" in the projected image

"National Historic Site Saiku Site Heian Emaki Projection Mapping 2021" Talent Mitsu Dan was appointed as the role of "Saio" in the projected image.

It is said that "Saito (Saito, Saito, Saito)" from all over Japan started with the secretary of the Saiku dormitory, "Saiku-ryo," who serves the Saio, and is said to be the ancestor of people who give their surnames "Saito" today. I am. Since Mitsu Dan's real name (maiden name) is "Saito" and it matches the image of "Saio" that people have, he will play the role of "Saio".

About the work

Projection mapping images such as gorgeous Saio's story and contemporary digital art with motifs such as "Saiku Historical Museum", "Ise Monogatari Folding Screen", and "Genji Eawase Shell" owned by the Saiku Historical Museum are projected. did.

It will be scaled up from the previous projection mapping held in February 2021, and the images will be projected on the Nishiwaki and Higashiwaki halls in addition to the main hall where the previous video was projected. In addition, the talent Mitsu Dan was appointed as the role of "Saio" in the projected image.

In the video, a lively story is unfolded by moving the picture scrolls related to Saio, such as the "Saio group picture scroll", which depicts Saio swarming from the capital to Ise Jingu.

While changing traditional patterns such as the Heian pattern projected on the roofs of the main hall, Nishiwaki hall, and Higashiwaki hall, it expresses the transition of Japanese culture.

And the leading role of the story is to "Saio". "Saio" is revived while the twelve clothes are piled up.

Saio spent his days praying at Saio, leaving his family until the emperor replaced him, saying goodbye to his life in the city.

From Saio's prayer, he will soon change into a phoenix, a symbol of love and peace, and take off.

The theme song for the music is the original song "SAIKU" by composer Aleksey Chistilin, which is based on the image of Saio. This is a newly created song for this projection mapping.
