


“National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Tower Projection Mapping 2023-2024” produced by HITOHATA,INC. in collaboration with Epson Sales Co., Ltd. and Seiko Epson Co., Ltd. was held from Saturday, December 16, 2023 to February 14, 2024 ( The event was held until Wednesday at Matsumoto Castle Park (Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture). One of the five existing National Treasure towers and the oldest of the five-story, six-story castle towers, folding screen paintings depicting Kazumasa Ishikawa, the castle lord who built the magnificent castle tower, are displayed on the tower and stone walls of Matsumoto Castle. Dynamic and fantastic projection mapping images were projected, including digital animation, digital art with motifs of snowflakes and ice, and hundreds of flowers blooming beautifully in the Northern Alps.
In addition, due to popular demand, we had extended the exhibition period, and from February 16th (Friday) to February 18th (Sunday), you can enjoy all of the projection mapping performances from the first to third periods.

Projection mapping images of ukiyo-e, traditional crafts, flowers, etc. will be projected onto Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure representing Japan. A light art production including a fusion of projection mapping and laser mapping and interactive content was performed.

Projection mapping using digital art inspired by motifs such as phoenixes, Toyama’s traditional crafts, and tulips—the prefectural flower of Toyama—is projected onto Toyama Castle, a symbol of Toyama City and a nationally registered tangible cultural property.

National Historic Site Saiku Heian Emaki Projection Mapping 2024
Projection mapping images featuring cultural and artistic motifs associated with Saiku, such as the Tale of Genji picture scroll, Tale of Genji shikishi pasting folding screen and Juni-hitoe, are projected in the Shoden, East Side Hall and West Side Hall of the Saiku Heian no Mori at the Saiku National Historical Site, the main programme of the Re-Ku Bunka Art Festival to be held in early 2024.
