The Takada-Honzan Senjuji Temple National Treasure Mieido and National Treasure Nyoraido Cultural Property AR, produced by HITOHATA,INC. was unveiled at Senjuji Temple (Tsu City, Mie Prefecture), the head temple of the Takada School of Shin Buddhism. (Organised by the Takata Honzan Senjuji Digital Art Night Executive Committee)
The ‘Takata Honzan Senjuji National Treasure Mieido and National Treasure Nyoraido Cultural Property AR’ was part of the ‘Takata Honzan Senjuji National Treasure Mieido and National Treasure Nyoraido Digital Art Night 2024’ held from 15-17 November 2024 at Senjuji Temple (Tsu City, Mie Prefecture), the head temple of the Takata school of Shinshu Buddhism, and featured high-resolution 3D models of Senjuji's precious cultural properties. This project allows visitors to interactively view high-resolution 3D models of Senjuji's valuable cultural assets using a smartphone.
No app download is required, and augmented reality (AR) content can be easily experienced by reading the QR code placed inside Senjuji Temple with a smartphone camera and holding the camera over it.
Cultural assets that cannot be seen up close or that are not normally open to the public can be viewed up close via a smartphone, and can be enlarged and rotated using the controls at hand.
AR contents can be experienced only inside Senjuji Temple by using the GPS function, and five types of AR contents were made available: the ‘Phoenix’, ‘Dragon’ and ‘Kirin’ ornaments on the transoms in the National Treasure Mieido, the wooden seated statue of Shinran Shonin and the ‘Phoenix’ sculpture in the National Treasure Nyoraido.
