“YOKAI Immersive Experience Exhibition TOKYO - Imagination of Japan” won the Gold Award in the international creative awards “MUSE Creative Awards 2026.”

“YOKAI Immersive Experience Exhibition TOKYO - Imagination of Japan” produced by HITOHATA, INC., won the Gold Award in the “Experiential & Immersive - Exhibition Experience” category at the international creative awards “MUSE Creative Awards 2026.”

The “MUSE Creative Awards” is an international award established in 2015 by the U.S.-based International Awards Association (IAA) to recognize outstanding creative work in the fields of advertising, design, and digital media. With over 10,000 entries received annually from around the world for both the MUSE Creative and Design Awards, and the "YOKAI Immersive Experience Exhibition TOKYO - Imagination of Japan" was selected as a Gold Winner.

This Exhibition is the world’s first immersive, experiential digital art museum where visitors can immerse themselves in Japan’s renowned YOKAI art—including “Hyakki Yagyo Emaki,” “Hyakumonogatari,” “Oni,” “Tengu,” “Kappa,” and “Tsukumogami”—depicted by various artists from the Edo and Meiji periods, through cutting-edge video technology and three-dimensional sculptures.

Born from the rich imagination of ancient Japanese myths and folklore, Japan’s YOKAI have been loved by people around the world across the ages. The exhibition dynamically brings to life the humorous figures depicted in YOKAI paintings and caricatures using cutting-edge digital technologies such as 3DCG, projection mapping, and holographic screens, while recreating a realistic world of yokai through three-dimensional sculptures.

Furthermore, with the cooperation of Japan’s first antique book museum, the Nishio City Iwase Bunko, and the Shodoshima Yokai Art Museum, the museum not only provides commentary on yokai culture, yokai paintings, caricatures, and art but also unravels the history and culture of yokai as they connect to modern pop culture.

Winning this international creative award is a testament to the fact that our immersive experience—which focuses on Japan’s unique YOKAI culture and fuses immersive video created with cutting-edge digital technology with three-dimensional sculptures—has been recognized as world-class creativity. HITOHATA, INC., will continue to promote the appeal of Japan’s unique traditional and folk cultures—including YOKAI—both domestically and internationally through cutting-edge technology and production, thereby contributing to the enhanced global outreach of Japanese culture and the creation of new value in traditional culture.
