Q. When would I start?

A. Because we are preparing for the opening in spring 2027, we would like you to join as early as possible, but the start date can be adjusted to suit your current employment situation.

Q. What are the working arrangements?

A. You will work on a shift system in line with the opening hours of "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA" (planned as 10:00-20:00). A flextime system with no core time applies, and start and finish times are set generally between 9:00 and 21:00, covering everything from pre-opening preparation to post-closing settlement, sales reconciliation and cleaning (an early shift starts at 9:00 and a late shift finishes at 21:00; one hour break, eight actual working hours). Because the museum opens on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and over the year-end and New Year period, you will have approximately two days off per week according to the shift roster.

During office-based periods and the pre-opening preparation period, you will train and work at the Tokyo Office, the Nagoya Head Office and event venues and permanent facilities in Japan and overseas, on flextime based around 10:00-19:00 (one hour break, eight actual working hours).

Q. Is there a uniform? Are there rules on clothing and appearance?

A. You will wear the uniform provided by the company when working at the museum, and cleaning costs are covered by the company.

Depending on your position, on exhibitions and events held at the museum and on publicity shoots, you may also be asked to wear kimono, yukata or other Japanese dress. This is part of the presentation unique to a facility that conveys ukiyoe and Edo culture. Japanese dress is provided by the company, so you do not need to prepare anything, and no experience of dressing in kimono is required.

This position also involves conveying the appeal of the works and of ukiyoe directly to visitors. Because your expression, voice and eye contact greatly affect the quality of the experience, customer service and commentary inside the museum are carried out with your face clearly visible, and masks are not worn, except when you are unwell, when hygiene requires it, or where the authorities request it. We also set certain standards for hairstyle, hair color, nails and accessories from the perspective of the world of the works and of safety management.

Clothing for office-based work, the preparation period and business trips is essentially free (office casual), though a suit may be required for events and similar occasions.

Q. Will I appear in publicity photographs and video?

A. Yes. For the publicity of the museum and for recruitment communications, photographs and video of staff at work are taken and may be used on the websites and social media of our company and related companies, and in brochures, advertising, press releases and media coverage. The Presenter is the face of the facility, so please understand this point before applying.

We will let you know in advance about the schedule and content of shoots, including whether Japanese dress will be worn. Photographs and video are managed appropriately in accordance with the HITOHATA, Inc. Privacy Policy.

Q. When and how are shifts decided?

A. Shifts are decided in principle during the preceding month, taking into account the operating schedule of the facility and the overall balance of work across the team. You can also request specific days off.

Q. Is there late-night work?

A. Regular shifts generally fall between 9:00 and 21:00 in line with the facility's opening hours. However, roughly once a month, exhibition commentary and content changeovers or equipment maintenance are carried out late at night after closing, and you may be asked to attend.

Dates are arranged in advance and the shifts before and after are adjusted accordingly. Late-night work and overtime allowances are paid separately, calculated by the minute.

Q. Will I handle work other than customer service and artwork commentary?

A. Yes. In addition to customer service, guidance and artwork commentary inside the museum, one of your main responsibilities during office-based work is the recruitment, shift creation, training and labor management of ASSOCIATE MEMBER (part-time) staff.

You will also concurrently take on planner duties such as managing business figures including visitor numbers and sales, planning visitor outreach and PR initiatives, handling groups, travel agencies and media, and product planning and purchasing management for the museum shop. Being able to experience both front-line hospitality and the management of facility operations is a distinctive feature of this position.

Q. What about commuting expenses?

A. Commuting expenses are reimbursed in full at actual cost. Where business travel is involved, a business trip per diem of 2,500 yen per day is paid separately.

Q. What is the employment type?

A. You will be hired as a COMPANY MEMBER (Regular Staff) with no fixed term of employment.

The first six months from your start date are a probation period, but there is no reduction in salary or allowances during that time.

Q. What is the average salary or annual income?

A. In addition to a base salary from 252,800 yen per month, determined with consideration of experience, ability and achievements, overtime, holiday work and late-night work allowances are paid separately and calculated by the minute.

There are also bonuses twice a year in June and December, a housing allowance of 10,000-30,000 yen, and business trip per diems. For reference, bonuses paid in FY2024 totaled 4.0 months of base salary (2.0 months in June and 2.0 months in December).

Q. Do I need English skills?

A. We expect visitors from overseas, so language ability such as English or Chinese is welcome, but it is not required. Commentary inside the museum is prepared in several languages including Japanese, English and Chinese, and we support language learning after you join.

Q. I currently live far away. Can I still apply, and is relocation supported?

A. We actively welcome applications from people living outside the Tokyo area. You will need to live within commuting distance of "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Museum GINZA" after being hired, but the company provides generous support for the cost of moving.

If relocation is required on joining, a relocation allowance of 200,000 yen is provided. It applies to both new graduate and career hires, is free to use as you wish with no receipts required, and can be put straight towards moving costs, deposits and key money, or furniture and appliances. It is paid in principle in the month you join.

In addition, if you newly need to rent a home on joining, a monthly housing allowance of 10,000-30,000 yen is paid depending on your residential area, and we help with your search by suggesting recommended areas and properties and introducing real estate agents. We support both the cost and the paperwork of starting a new life in Tokyo, so please apply with confidence. For selection, the first interview can be held online, and travel and accommodation costs for the practical test and final interview are covered by the company.

Q. I have none of the preferred skills or qualifications. Can I still apply?

A. The preferred skills and qualifications are for reference only and are not required.

We place more weight on personal qualities: hospitality and communication skills that give visitors both reassurance and excitement, the autonomy, initiative and sense of responsibility to protect quality and safety on site, and the cooperativeness and proactive attitude needed to run the facility as a team.

No experience is required for an interest in projection mapping, immersive art museums or immersive shows either, so please apply with confidence.

Q. I currently work at another company. Can the selection schedule be adjusted?

A. Yes. If you are currently employed elsewhere, we will adjust the selection schedule, for example by holding interviews on your days off.

Q. I currently live overseas. Are the interview and practical test mandatory?

A. If you currently live overseas we will make arrangements such as holding interviews remotely. However, the practical test and final interview are mandatory, so we will adjust the selection schedule with you.

Q. I cannot apply during this recruitment period. Will there be future openings?

A. If this recruitment fills the planned number of Presenter positions, there are no immediate plans for additional recruitment. However, additional recruitment may take place in the near future if the planned number is not reached, or if a vacancy arises.

If you would like to work as a Presenter in the future, please apply now and note this in the personal requests section. If you meet our hiring standards through the selection process, we may put your offer on hold and give you priority when a vacancy arises.

Q. Can I apply for more than one position? Can I change position after joining?

A. You may apply for more than one position; please note this in the personal requests section.

After joining, you may also change to another position, taking into account your wishes and aptitude.
