The Aichi Prefecture Smart City Model Project "Okazaki Machinaka AR Walking" will be implemented

Okazaki Machinaka AR Walking", an Aichi Prefecture Smart City Model Project produced by HITOHATA,INC., will run from Friday 1 December 2023 to Friday 22 March 2024.

The Okazaki Machinaka AR Walking project allows visitors to experience augmented reality (AR) content by reading a QR code with their smartphone camera and holding the camera over a scene (AR marker) in the city of Okazaki. Visitors can experience different AR contents such as a digital animation of the ukiyoe print 'Utagawa Hiroshige: The Fifty-three Stages of the Tokaido Highway, Okazaki Yabayakino Bridge' and a digital animation of the legend of the ascending dragon at five different spots in the city, including the Yahagi Bridge monument, the Kagoda Somon corner of Kagoda Park, the well of Tokugawa Ieyasu's birthplace in Okazaki Park and others.

[Contents] By scanning the QR code with your smartphone camera and pointing the camera at the scenery (AR marker) in Okazaki City, you can experience AR (augmented reality) content. There is no need to download the app, and you can experience different content at five spots in the city.

[How to experience AR]

There is no need to download the app. You can experience AR at five spots in the city.

1. Discover spots in the city (search for the spot name on Google Maps)

2. Scan the QR code for each spot with your smartphone (or tap the link for each spot below) and launch LESSAR (web app) (allow access to your camera)

3. Hold your smartphone camera at the same angle as the photo so that the entire spot is captured, and tap when the video playback mark appears

4. Experience AR content (you can experience different content at five spots)

*Please turn on the location information service on your smartphone.

*Please hold the camera so that the entire spot is captured at the same angle as the photo of the spot. AR content may not start at a different angle, at night, or in rainy weather. Thank you for your understanding.

*When experiencing AR, please be considerate of pedestrians and vehicles around you.

*This project is being carried out as a demonstration experiment for the Aichi Prefecture Smart City Model Project.

About the Aichi Prefecture Smart City Model Project

[Project content] Aichi Prefecture commissions the proposing municipalities to carry out projects that serve as models for smart city initiatives, and by holding results presentations and other events, the results are spread across the entire Aichi Prefecture. This project has been implemented since fiscal year 2022.

Seven municipalities were selected for fiscal year 2023: Okazaki City, Kariya City, Nisshin City, Koda Town, Kasugai City, Gamagori City, and Obu City.
